The Leopard 2 A4 is a third-generation main battle tank developed by Germany, which entered mass production in 1985 and was gradually deployed to troops. It continues the Leopard 2 series’ tradition of high-performance design, achieving a well-balanced combination of firepower, protection, and mobility. Widely regarded as one of the most capable and well-rounded main battle tanks, it remains in service with several countries and continues to undergo modernization upgrades.
The tank is equipped with a Rheinmetall 120mm Rh120-L44 smoothbore gun, capable of firing a variety of munitions including DM-series APFSDS (armor-piercing fin-stabilized discarding sabot) rounds and multi-purpose high-explosive shells. Paired with an advanced fire control system, the Leopard 2A4 boasts a high first-round hit probability among third-generation tanks. It has seen operational deployment in Germany’s peacekeeping missions in Kosovo, Turkey’s military operations in Syria, and more recently, in the ongoing war in Ukraine.
This MENG 1/72 72-009 German Main Battle Tank Leopard 2 A4 model is about 134mm long, 53mm wide and 41mm high once assembled. Based on the experience from previous 1/72 scale products, this kit continues to embrace the concept of modular design, and it further improves the building experience. This kit includes fine decals too.
