Because of its special combat environment, Israel Defense Forces (IDF)
is equipped with many peculiar weapons and equipment, one of which is
the D9R armored bulldozer with slat armor. The D9 bulldozers are
originally designed for building, logging and mining purposes. The Ramta
Division of the Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) developed an all-new
armor suite, Daqhpor Memugan, for D9R bulldozers which were in the IDF
service in a large number in October 2003. This armor suite can provide
overall protection to D9Rs. From 2005, D9Rs have been added with the
slat armor suite, which is effective in protecting them from RPG-7
attacks. Besides, weapons like machine guns and grenade launchers can be
added on top of the cab for self-defense.
MENG has now announced the SS-010 D9R Armored Bulldozer w/Slat Armor
model kit which is a replica of the latest IDF D9R variant. This kit
includes brand-new tooling workable track links and perfectly
represented complex slat armor.
